Anthony L. ClunieAnthony Clunie was born in 1930, in a little village named Gibraltar, (near Moneague) in the Jamaican parish of St. Ann . For most of his life, he has maintained a keen interest in English Literature; an interest first awakened in his teens by his older brother Harry. His first attempt at writing, a song, also was made during this period, but inspiration was fleeting, so he turned to other pursuits.

Anthony became a teacher, graduating from Mico Teacher's College in 1952. However, a restless temperament led him to change jobs many times during the course of his life, a circumstance which enabled him to experience much, and, on the basis of that experience, organize his life's philosophy.

In 1993, his Muse returned, though erratically. He did not settle down to writing full-time, but his part-time efforts produced short stories and poems like "Bondage", "The Strangers " and "Threat". It was in the year 2002 that his Muse decided to stay with him, and his output became steady and more varied. A book of Jamaican anecdotes, a children's story, more poems and several short stories are the results of his labor, with several more projects in the pipeline.

Anthony's intention is to share with Caribbean peoples, and others, his thoughts on the various facets of life; and hopefully contribute to the store of valuable Caribbean Literature.

IDENTIFY WITH US

Judge not our statements and expressed beliefs,
Solely against the measure of your own;
But grant us in your noble generosity,
The right to see and feel and hence to know,
In our own idiom, and through our own eyes,
And so relate our thoughts in our own ways.

Then challenge your own mind
To walk where we have been;
To sound the depths of our depression,
And view the horrors of our suffering;
Perhaps you’ll glimpse the wellspring of our pride,
And come to understand our yearning to be free.
